Who We Are

It all began over 50 years ago when a group of Sutter citizens banded together to help create a safe place for Sutter's youth to swim.  With the previous option being the local irrigation canals, these citizens raised the necessary funds to have a pool built on donated land.  This was the birth of the Sutter Youth Organization.

With the help of private donations from the community and fundraising efforts the Sutter Youth Organization has expanded to included Vera Carroll Park, Catlett & Munger Halls, along with the recently refurbished Morehead Family Community Pool. Such wonderful facilities have helped established the SYO as the cornerstone of our great community.

The Organization’s Mission

Our organization serves the community of Sutter, California.  Our mission is to serve the community of Sutter and surrounding areas in the following ways:

1.   Help provide a safe place for children and families to spend at the pool in addition to providing the local schools a place to hold their physical education classes.

2.   Provide a safe and effective place for our fellow local youth focused organizations such as Girl Scouts, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Sutter Area Little League, Sutter Lions Club, and our local schools to hold their meetings.

3.  Use the facility & resources to promote positive community events such as Sutter Buttes Day, National Night Out, Movie Nights in The SYO Park, and the Community Christmas Tree Lighting.  These activities are important for our community members to meet their neighbors and provide our youth with a sense of pride in their town.
